It was Daddy’s weekend. I was home alone with our 18 month old, trying to sleep in on a Saturday morning. Mommy was off on a well-deserved girls’ trip with her friends, and it was my job to keep the child fed, bathed and entertained for three days, all by myself.

Things were going well. She had gone to bed easily that Friday night, and I got several chores done after she was asleep.

Saturday morning, however, I awoke to the sound of water. Have you ever awoken to the sound of something that should not be there?
